The "Frankenstein"
Fueling Calculator
Standard calculators assume you eat the exact same gel every 30 minutes. Real runners don't. Build your custom stash of different gels and drink mixes to get a precise, minute-by-minute pacing timeline for race day.
1. Set Your Target
E.g., 3.5 hrs = 210 mins
Recommended: 60 - 90g
2. Build Your Stash
Add and reorder items to reach your goal.

- 1. Calculate Target Deficit Goal duration × target carbs/hr = total race requirement.
- 2. Liquid Deduction We subtract liquid fuels first, leaving your "Solid Fuel Deficit."
- 3. Stash Distribution We space your mixed gels evenly across the remaining time.
Why Mix Your Gels?
Endurance athletes build a "mixed stash" to prevent flavor fatigue and GI distress. A common strategy is heavier, higher-carb options early while the stomach is settled, moving to lighter, liquid-based gels late in the race when the body is under maximum stress.
Fueling FAQs
How many carbs per hour?
The optimal target is 60g–90g/hr. Hitting 60g+ is the secret to avoiding the "bonk."
What is gut training?
Practice fueling during your long runs. This trains your stomach to absorb carbs without nausea.
