The Methodology

Science-backed training principles adapted for real people with real lives. No guru nonsense.

It has been used to prepare runners for races across New Zealand and internationally.

    Engine vs. Chassis

Your lungs adapt faster than your legs.

Cardiovascular fitness develops quickly, but structural tolerance (tendons, bones, ligaments) takes time. We build volume methodically so your engine never writes cheques your chassis cannot cash.

    Avoiding the 'Grey Zone'

Train by effort, verified by data.

The biggest amateur trap is running easy days too hard and hard days too easy. We protect the extremes. Your true easy runs stay easy, so your hard sessions can actually be hard.

    The Unified Stress Model

Training stress and life stress share a reservoir.

Whether it is a threshold session, a sick toddler, or a brutal week at work, your central nervous system feels it all. When life stress spikes, the plan bends so you do not break.

    Dynamic Progression

    No rigid, copy-paste spreadsheets.

We prescribe training week-by-week. We deploy 'Pullback Weeks' to consolidate fitness based on your biological feedback and your actual life calendar, not an arbitrary 16-week template.

    Proof of Concept

    The Method in Action.

I didn't start fast. I built this system because I made every mistake in the book.

    4:35 Marathon

    Bonked at 30km

"I ran 'hard' every time. I had no structure, no heart rate data, and no fuelling strategy. I hit the wall at 30km and walked the last 12km in pain."

    Structured Training & Fuelling

"The difference wasn't effort - it was structure. I finally respected my training zones and nailed my nutrition strategy. I didn't just survive the distance; I raced it."

"We do not set out to build Olympians; we build lifelong, robust runners. Whether you are looking at your first 5km or a sub-3:15 marathon, we want you to stand at the start line and ask, 'Why not me?'"

    The Philosophy

    How we do things differently

    The Pivot, Not the Cram

    Setbacks happen. We pivot.

Missed a workout? Bad sleep? We adjust the week. We never 'cram' missed runs into back-to-back days to catch up. Consistency always beats intensity.

    Communication is a Partnership

    A collaboration, not a dictatorship.

We use WhatsApp, not clunky portals. The plan is our shared map. You bring the feedback from the road, and I bring the framework to adjust course.

The Trendline over the Data Point

    Normalise the bad days.

A single rubbish run with heavy legs or a high heart rate means nothing in isolation. We view progress over a long-term trendline, using setbacks as mechanical feedback, not defeats.
